And now Bryan Fuller, the man behind Hannibal and other beautifully creative shows like Pushing Daisies, Wonderfalls, and Dead Like Me, has a new show and it's premiering tonight on Starz. Pretty much every critic I have read has said that his American Gods, based on the Neil Gaiman novel, is pretty much Hannibal season 4. That just grabs at my heart and gives it a good hard squeeze. The reaction from fellow fans on Tumblr confirms it. One fan described it as coming home and having all the furniture rearranged. Bryan is still at the helm delivering beautiful television, all of the directors on American Gods are former Hannibal directors, and a great number of the behind the scenes personnel are also Hannibal alums.
I'm not going to watch because I don't have Starz, but we live in a recap world and tomorrow I'll get to catch up on all the comings and goings of this new show. Plus, Tumblr will give me all the pretty, pretty shots in gif form. However I'm probably not going to seek this show out until the end of the year. I'm still smarting about the absence of Hannibal season 4. Once we find out officially from Bryan whether or not a season 4 will happen I'll be able to move on.
I just really miss my show and I'm pining.
I'll likely do a Hannibal season 1 rewatch during American Gods time. Episode 1 Aperitif with grumpy anti-social Will Graham and Hannibal the friendly neighborhood
